The X Factor judge Simon Cowell has criticised former contestant Jake Quickenden’s decision to appear on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
After being voted off the X Factor only 3 weeks into the live shows, Jake managed to finish in second place in the jungle.
When talking about whether it’s important to win The X Factor at a press conference, Simon said: “I think in any competition, if you don’t want to win, that tells me you haven’t got that killer instinct to do well in the real world, if you’re happy to come fourth or tenth and ended up in the jungle…”
Fellow judge Louis Walsh responded with a: “Meow”, before Simon continued: “It’s not, ‘Meow’, it’s true. What we want on this show are people who want to be recording artists in the real world. I mean, it’s just the way it is. Nice guy, but he could have gone on the jungle first and then come on the show.”
Simon was also asked about Steve Brookstein – whose recent autobiography criticised The X Factor – but remained civil, saying:
“You know what; he’s got the right to say whatever he wants,
“I would rather people come away from the show with a positive experience, and I think that’s what most people do, and that’s what’s going to happen this weekend.”
The X Factor final starts on Saturday 13th December at 8.30pm on ITV.
