Has Chris Evans’ chances to be the new host of Top Gear been greatly improved as Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended by the BBC?
This afternoon the BBC released a statement saying that Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended after a ‘fracas’ with a producer.
The statement read: “Following a fracas with a BBC producer, Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended pending an investigation. No-one else has been suspended.
“Top Gear will not be broadcast this Sunday. The BBC will be making no further comment at this time.”
Late last year rumours circulated that Clarkson will be sacked and Chris Evans was set to replace him, but will this now become true?
The Mirror quoted a TV source saying: “Clarkson is undeniably talented, but there is now a small band of BBC executives who believe his knack of getting into trouble has become too big an issue to ignore.
“Chris Evans has shown himself to be just as talented in front of the cameras, and is known for his interest in cars.”
Jeremy Clarkson hasn’t been sacked, yet, a full investigation will now be taking place by the BBC before anymore action is taken.
Top Gear this Sunday has been cancelled due to Clarkson’s suspension.
