Olly Murs has been tipped to replace Dermot O’Leary alongside Caroline Flack on The X Factor 2015.
Dermot O’Leary announced last week that he has quit presenting The X Factor after 8 years on the job.
Dermot told DigitalSpy: “After eight wonderful years on The X Factor it’s time for me to move on. I’d like to thank ITV, Simon, The X Factor family and particularly the viewers, all of whom have been a big part of my life for so long.
“I’d like to wish the team all the best for the future, especially whoever takes over from me. You’re about to be the conductor on the most brilliant, runaway train in showbiz. Good luck you’ll love it!”
Olly Murs who appeared on The X Factor in 2008 has now been tipped to replace Dermot, when talking about Dermot’s shock departure, he said: “It’s so sad to see him leave,
“Dermot was there for me from day one. Dermot is a personal friend of mine and is someone I get on really well with.
“I have known him since 2009 when I did the show as a contestant. It is obviously a massive shame, he has done an incredible eight years but I think it is now time for a new chapter.”
When responding to rumours about Xtra-Factor host Caroline Flack joining him, Olly said at Blackpool’s Madame Tussauds launch of his wax figure: “It’s rumours. Everyone is speculating about it. I have presented the Xtra Factor before with Caroline and I loved it.
“Caroline is great. We worked together years ago and we loved it. Every year there is speculation that I am going to do the X Factor, as a judge or presenter, and I just ignore it.”
