Sherilyn Hamilton Shaw, 40 year old, whose a mum of three and charity owner from Wales brought tears to Wembley with an emotional audition.
Sherilyn performed Whitney Houston’s ‘I Didn’t Know my own Strength’ for her audition.
She said before singing: “I have there beautiful children and I run my own thirty. I found out i have a heart defect and I raise money for defibrillators in public places.”
“I have sang all my life. I started when I was 13, sang at pubs and clubs and stopped when I was 30 and my husband had a serious accident in work and he was paralysed for six months.
“I gave it up to help him get back to fitness and learn to walk again and I never went back.”
The words and backstory to Sherilyn’s past few years was enough to move Cheryl and Nick to tears.
Cheryl had tears streaming down her face, she said: “I can’t handle that song, it is ridiculous how much the words resonate with me and I understand how you have been through some really hard times.”
Simon Cowell said: “It wasn’t the best vocals I have heard on that song, it is true but it is quite rare that every lyric of the song is relevant to your own life. That could be the best back story we have ever heard on X Factor.”
Nick Grimshaw said: “There was such emotion in it. I think you’re awesome. You were great.”
Later Cheryl was heard saying that song should be banned from the show because it affects her emotions.
Find out tonight if she got any yeses from the four judges, or if she walked away with nothing.
