Celebrity Big Brother bosses have been slammed by some viewers by airing scenes of Angie reacting to David Bowie’s death.
It’s emerged today that David Bowie sadly passed away yesterday following 18 months with cancer – He died surrounded by family.
Channel 5 confirmed to TwitCelebGossip that they informed Angie of David’s death earlier today.
A statement from Channel 5 said: “Following the very sad news of David Bowie’s death, we can now confirm that Angie Bowie has been informed off camera by her representatives. She has taken the decision to continue in the programme,
“The decision to remain in the house is entirely her choice, and she has been given the option to leave at any time if she changes her mind.”
At the end of tonight’s episode (11th January) Big Brother aired scenes of Angie reacting to David’s death – Viewers were left angered with bosses for airing such clips of the aftermath.
Angie said in the clip: “I haven’t seen him for some many years,
“I can’t make a big drama out of it, i feel like an era has ended with his passing. I’m so very sad.
Angie was then shown crying stating “Stardust is gone” while being comforted by her housemates John Partridge and David Gest.
Viewers took to social media to share their feelings about producers airing the clips, one said: “It was disgusting.”
Another said: “I feel as though something like that should be private. We should only see Angie telling the HMs, then leave her to grieve”
While another viewer said: “Angie chose to remain on the show after that off-camera meeting so it was inevitable her emotions would be shown sometime”
“it was wrong and very insensitive. That should have been private and not for everyone to see x” tweeted one viewer.
Some people had different views, one said: “well she is being filmed by cameras for a reality TV she wishes to continue in what are they suppose to do?”
It has been revealed more clips of Angie will be shown in tomorrow’s episode.
