The Voice UK’s Joe Woolford and Jake Shakeshaft have won the vote to become Britain’s entry to Eurovision 2016.
Both boys appeared on last year’s series of The Voice UK with Joe making it through to the live shows on Team Rita whilst Jake made it through to the knock outs on Team Will.i.am.
Since leaving the show, the pair have formed a pop duo and were one of the 6 nominees for this year’s Eurovision entry for Great Britain.
“We feel seriously honoured to be one of six acts short listed to represent the UK in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest,” they said earlier this week. “We want to do everyone proud, whether you’re watching at home or cheering from overseas.
“We look at our favourite Eurovision acts like Måns Zelmerlöw and Loreen, and would love nothing more than for the UK to smash it like them.
“It’s time we looked like proper contenders in Eurovision again, don’t you think?”
For the first time since 2010, the Eurovision entry for Great Britain was chosen by viewers in a live show last night on BBC Four.
Despite not being the favourites to win last night, Joe and Jake proved to be the dark horses of the competition, meaning they will represent Great Britain at the Eurovision Song Contest in May of this year.
The pair were battling out with the other nominees with their song You’re Not Alone.
