Graham Norton paid heartfelt tribute to Sir Terry Wogan tonight by inviting viewers at home to raise a glass during song number nine.
Graham said: “Tonight’s Eurovision is a bittersweet one for many of us because it’s the first one since the death of Sir Terry Wogan,
“The only bit of advice Wogan had for me was don’t ever drink before song nine. Well this is song nine,
“So while the crowd here in the Globen Arena cheer on their home boy I would urge you to raise whatever you have in front of you and give thanks to the man who was Eurovision.
‘Sir Terry, this is song nine.”
Sir Terry sadly died in January aged 77, he was the BBC’s commentator on the contest from 1971-2008.
