Last night’s Big Brother 2016 final viewing figures have been released, and they’re up on last year!
Weeks of confinement for the housemates has finally come to an end in the Big Brother 2016 live finale, hosted by Emma Willis. The longest serving of this year’s housemates discover which of them will emerge victorious as this year’s winner.
Only six housemates made it to the final: Evelyn Ellis, Jayne Connery, Jackson Blyton, Jason Burrill, Andy West and Hughie Maughan.
Last night saw Jason Burrill reign victorious and win the £70,000 prize fund.
About 1.4 million viewers tuned in to watch Jason be crowned champion and a further 100,000 on +1 bringing the total up to 1.5 million, almost as many who watched the launch show.
Last night’s figures are up 200,000 on last year’s final and after the final a further 664,000 tuned into Big Brother Bit On The Side for extra Big Brother news.
Here are the viewing figures for every final since it moved to Channel 5:
BB12/2011 2.1 million (C5+1 not on air)
BB13/2012 1.5 million
BB14/2013 1.7 million
BB15/2014 1.6 million
BB16/2015 1.3 million
BB17/2016: 1.5 million
Overall the overnight average viewing figures for Big Brother 2016 are ever so slightly above those from 2015, at around 1.15 million
Official viewing figures for the whole series will be released next month.
Celebrity Big Brother commences tomorrow night on Channel 5 at 9pm.
