Victoria is commissioned for a second series!

ITV has commissioned another series of hit drama Victoria!

Victoria has been constantly winning the ratings battle with Poldark, receiving over half a million viewers more than Poldark.

This outward success has caused ITV to commission a new series of Victoria, pleasing many fans.

The first series starred Jenna Coleman as the young Queen alongside Tom Hughes as Prince Albert. It launched at the end of August and has been a huge ratings success, with the series averaging 7.7 million viewers and 29.7% share of viewing, based on consolidated overnights. This makes it the top rated ITV drama of the year so far.

ITV’s Director of Television, Kevin Lygo said: “Mammoth and Daisy Goodwin have brought the characters so vividly to life in this series, and we’re thrilled with the reception for Victoria. We’re pleased to be able to confirm that Jenna Coleman and Tom Hughes will return to continue the story on ITV.”

This announcement comes as three episodes are still set to air of the first season.

ITV is keen to export the show all the way around the world, with the aim to make millions, with the same aim for Poldark from the BBC

This bad news for Poldark comes after fans run to social media to complain about Captain McNeil’s “excruciating” Scottish accent. But, on the bright side, a third series of Poldark is currently being filmed in Cornwall.

Despite the craze over the good looking men in Poldark, it seems fans are not too disappointed with the eye candy in Victoria either. Prince Albert is played by the stunning Tom Hughes and Lord Melbourne is played by the attractive Rufus Sewell.

Tune in to Victoria on Sunday on ITV at 9pm to catch all the latest drama in the life of young Victoria, played by Jenna Coleman.
