This Weekend saw the contestants choose a song that they believed expressed themselves, showcasing the kind of artist the wish to be.

The contestants who made it in to the final 12 were:

Gifty Louise
Samantha Lavery
Emily Middlemas
Ryan Lawrie
Freddie Parker
Matt Terry
Bratavio
Brooks Way
5 After Midnight
Saara Aalto
Relly C
Honey G

However, this number was immediately taken to 11 after it was revealed that Brooks Way had been axed from the show after accusations that Josh had assaulted his girlfriend.

Tonight saw an outstanding group performance of Fleur East’s Sax, commencing the first results show in an amazing fashion.

A performance from James Arthur then followed, singing his number one single, Say You Won’t Let Go.

It then got down to business, with Dermot reading out the names of the surviving acts, with all of Simon’s acts making it through to the next show.

The three acts who has received the lowest votes were Freddie Parker, Bratavio, and Saara Aalto. The public were then given the opportunity to give one of the final 3 a lifeline, voting to save their favourite.

Freddie Parker was saved by the public, leaving Bratavio and Saara Aalto in the sing off.

Saara Alto wowed with an outstanding vocal performance of Alive by Sia, and Bratavio showcased their vocal abilities with Only Way is Up by Yazz and the Plastic Population.

Louis Walsh stuck with his own act, choosing to send home Saara, Sharon also decided to stick with her own act, choosing to send home Bratavio. Nicole Scherzinger and Simon Cowell both complimented Bratavio on their performance, but were overwhelmed by Saara’s performance, choosing to send Bratavio home.

This means that Bratavio have become the first contestant to leave The X Factor 2016.

The X Factor Jukebox was then spinned, revealing that next week’s theme will be Motown.
