National Television Awards 2017 winner predictions based on streaming data!

Who’s tipped to take home big at the National Television Awards 2017 on Wednesday? Here’s some predictions.

As television’s biggest night of the year, the National Television Awards (Wednesday 25th January, 7:30pm, ITV), fast approaches – TVPlayer, the UK-based video streaming service, has released its winner predictions for the awards based on its streaming data from over 1 million active platform users.

    Predicted winners:

Emmerdale – Serial Drama: 295,502 streaming figures

The Jeremy Kyle Show – Daytime: 214,207 streaming figures

The X Factor – Talent Show: 220,608 streaming figures

BBC Breakfast – Live Magazine Show: 591,608 streaming figures

The Graham Norton Show – Entertainment Programme: 38,541 streaming figures

Rob Hodgkinson, Chief Operating Officer of TVPlayer, said: “The NTAs are an annual celebration of British Television, voted on by the public. Whilst these votes are indeed valid, we argue that viewership should also be taken into account when acknowledging the winning talent.

As multiple device and online video streaming services become increasingly popular, it is pertinent that these viewing figures, alongside traditional live TV watching, be taken into account in addition to votes from the public.

Interestingly, streaming and on-demand viewing figures can be wildly different from the figures that traditional viewing measurements would indicate.

It would be really interesting to see whether our winner predictions correlate with the winners on the night and I hope to see that they will.”
