An average audience of 8.7 million watched between 9pm and 10pm to watch the drama unfold.
The series has had an average of 7.5 million viewers throughout, which is a rise of over a million on last year’s episodes.
Last night’s finale was up 1.4 million viewers on last week’s episode.
