The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! camp could be set for a new twist as it might be moved to a new island.
ITV bosses may have to move the I’m A Celebrity camp when the current contract with Springbrook National Park in New South Wales ends in two years’ time.
The famous ITV show has been filmed in the same location in Australia since 2003, that’s more than a decade now.
It’s now being reported that the famous camp could move 1,500 miles West to Kangaroo Island, which is off the south coast of Australia, when the location contact expires in a few years.
The Australian government has written to ITV to recommend the new location for the show, The Mirror reports.
Agent general Bill Muirhead has been quoted by the paper saying: “With a third of the island covered by national parks, Kangeroo Island is teeming with creatures not found anywhere else, most of which we’re more than happy for people to eat on TV.”
He added: “Looking forward to 2020, could it be time for a change? I ask you to consider Kangaroo Island, a place pulsating with all the wonder and weirdness Australia has to offer, an island with a name that seems straight out of a story of buccaneers and bushrangers.”
I’m A Celebrity returns to ITV in November.
