Britain’s Got Talent 2017: Meet Ant and Dec’s Golden Buzzer Act, Matt Edwards!

In tonight’s episode of Britain’s Got Talent, Ant and Dec pressed their golden buzzer for a special magician.

Matt Edwards, 34, is a magician from Suffolk. Matt hoped that Britain’s Got Talent would give him his big break.

He said before his audition to the judges: “What makes me different to other magicians is the type of magic I perform,

“It isn’t necessarily slight of hand, it’s a little bit crazy… it has variety.”

Alesha said: “Ohh, I like the sound of that.”

At the start of Matt’s magical audition, he revealed to the audience: “Because I only have a minute [to perform] i’m going to give this a big build up in the hope that everyone claps really loudly then all the ladies take off their bras and throws them in my face!”

He added: “Looking at you, Alesha!”

Matt’s audition was full of wacky facial expressions, dancing and impressions, he was even compared to Tommy Cooper by Amanda Holden.

He performed an hilarious salt-related trick to the tune of The Champs’ track ‘Tequila’ in a little sketch.

During Matt’s audition, Ant from the stage wing said: “He’s the Lee Evans of magic!”

After his hilarious audition, Matt definitely won over the whole theatre, including the judges.

David Walliams said: “What a brilliant way to present a magic trick,

“I love it when people push jokes as far as they can possibly go until they almost break. It was very funny, very entertaining. It was brilliant, well done.”

Amanda Holden said: “It was very silly, like Tommy Cooper used to do it,

“You’re old school with a twist which is absolutely perfect for Britain’s Got Talent

Simon Cowell said: “I’ve got to be honest with you Matthew, when you started with that voice I thought ‘this is going to be really annoying’ but actually you are brilliant,”

“You’re really, really funny.”

Simon added: “I’m surprised you haven’t had a break yet [at 34 years old] because you’re really likeable and nuts. You’ve got something about you, star quality. I have a good feeling about you.”

As the judges started to give their vote on Matt’s act, Ant and Dec came running from the wings saying: “Hold on! You don’t have to!”

Matt and the judges were left speechless as duo Ant and Dec made their way to the judging panel to press their Golden Buzzer.

Ant and Dec said after they pressed their Golden Buzzer together: “You’re brilliant, we loved it.”

Simon said: “I wasn’t expecting that,”

Ant replied: “Honestly, we were laughing so much… I thought I was going to pee myself!”

Dec added: “Simon, you said it. He’s 34 years old and for some reason he hasn’t been given a break, until now.

“We wanted [to give him that break]. He deserves it.”

As Matt left the BGT auditions, Ant and Dec asked him: “Please tell us you’ve got loads more material,

“It’s not just the song thing, is it?” Ant asked.

Matt replied: “I’ve got so much I want to show the world! Thank you so much for the opportunity to show them.”

Matt is now through to the live semi finals.

Britain’s Got Talent returns next weekend on ITV.
