The Britain’s Got Talent judges have now decided on this year’s semi-finalists, here they are.
After thousands applied and hundreds auditioned for the judges all around the UK, the lucky few who received three or more yeses have now been whittled down to the final 35 acts who will be joining the five golden buzzers.
The final 40 will now perform in the Britain’s Got Talent live semi-finals in the hope of winning the public vote and securing an all-important place in the live grand final and the chance of winning a life changing £250,000 and a coveted spot at the Royal Variety Performance.
Here’s a roundup of this year’s semi-finalists, who were revealed on Saturday’s (May 27th) final audition show.
SARAH IKUMU [Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer]: Sarah is a 16 year old student from Milton Keynes who dreams of becoming a full-time singer. Sarah wowed the judges with her incredible and powerful performance of Jennifer Hudson’s, ‘And I Am Telling You’. “You are incredible for someone of your age on this stage and you nailed the song”, said Simon after he pressed the first golden buzzer of the series.
MERSEYGIRLS [Alesha Dixon’s Golden Buzzer]: MerseyGirls, formerly Just Us, are a dance group from The Wirral, made up of sisters Alice (17) and Julia (15) and friends Poppy (14), Rebecca (16) and Annie (17) who met at their local dance school. Julia suffers from scoliosis and will be having surgery soon which will mean she will no longer be able to dance at the same level again. Alesha said, “Your story touched me so for that I’m going to do THIS”, as she pressed the golden buzzer.
DALISO CHAPONDA [Amanda Holden’s Golden Buzzer]: Daliso is a 37 year old comedian from Malawi, living in Manchester. While studying at University in Montreal, he entered his first open mic comedy night and has now turned his hobby into his career. “You’re bloody hilarious and I really want you to win the entire series”, said Amanda as she pressed her golden buzzer.
MATT EDWARDS [Ant and Dec’s Golden Buzzer]: Matt is a 34 year old comedy magician from Suffolk. He’s been performing since he was five years old after his dad bought him a magic trick from a shop in Covent Garden. Matt hopes that Britain’s Got Talent will give him his big break and he will one day be able to open his own magic school. He impressed the judges with his tequila inspired magic trick. Ant said, “We were laughing so much, I thought I was gonna pee myself. Really funny”, while Dec added “We loved the act. He’s 34 years old and for some reason he hasn’t been given the break up until now, so we just wanted to be there and do it.”
KYLE TOMLINSON [David Walliams’ Golden Buzzer]: Kyle is a 15 year old student, who dreams of one day performing on Broadway. He lives in Sheffield with his parents and previously auditioned for BGT but didn’t make it through to the next round with David advising him to get singing lessons. This time round David pressed his golden buzzer after, “A really, really moving performance, I am glad you came back and proved me wrong.”
