Disney has announced production has started for a live action ‘Dumbo’ movie, due to fly into cinemas in 2019.
Disney has announced a number of live-action movies today at D23 Expo, including a remake of Dumbo and Aladdin.
Dumbo is scheduled for release on March 29, 2019.
Disney announced: “Production is underway for the live-action reimagining of Disney’s Dumbo, directed by Tim Burton and starring Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito, Eva Green, Nico Parker and Finley Hobbins.”
Tim Burton announced the movie with a short video, from the engine of Casey Jr., the train that pulls the circus from town to town.
Disney also revealed a maquette used to model the CGI Dumbo for the live-action film at the event on Saturday.
The all-star cast includes Golden Globe winner Colin Farrell, Golden Globe winner Michael Keaton, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Danny DeVito, BAFTA Award winner and Golden Globe nominee Eva Green, and introduces Nico Parker and Finley Hobbins.
The remake will also see the amazing talents of Roshan Seth, DeObia Oparei, Sharon Rooney, and Douglas Reith.
As well as announcing Dumbo – Disney announced Guy Ritchie’s live-action remake of Aladdin – It includes Will Smith as the Genie.
Naomi Scott is set to play Princess Jasmine, while Will Smith will be taking on the Genie.
Newcomer Mena Massoud is taking the leading role as Aladdin.
