Channel 4 have commented on whether they will sack Prue Leith from The Great British Bake Off after her Twitter error.
The winner of The Great British Bake Off 2017 was leaked 12 hours before the final episode aired on Channel 4 on Tuesday evening.
The leak came from a Bake Off judge, Prue Leith – Yes, Prue tweeted the result of the Bake Off 12 hours before the final, oops.
“No one told me judging a #gbbo final would be so emotional. I wanted them all to win, Bravo Sophie.” Prue tweeted.
Just moments later, the tweeted was deleted and Prue offered an apology for the epic blunder. Although we can’t imagine Channel 4 was very happy after buying the show for millions?
Prue’s apology read: “I am so sorry to the fans of the show for my mistake this morning,” she tweeted. “I am in a different time zone and mortified by my error.”
She later told a reporter: “I f***ed up.
“I’m in Bhutan. The time difference is massive. I thought that they got it six hours ago. I’m in too much of a state to talk about it.”
So will Channel 4 sack Prue for her huge error?
At the time Prue apologised on Twitter, Channel 4 released the following statement: “Prue has just tweeted an apology to fans. We have no further comment.”
Fans of the show were furious with the leak, but The Mirror reports that producers insisted Prue’s job was safe for next year.
An insider told the paper: “We can’t be angry with Prue because we love her so much,
“It’s hard to be cross for something that was just an awful mistake.
They added: “No one’s going to feel worse about it than she does herself. She’s mortified.”
