The reason why the I’m A Celebrity contestants wear red socks and shorts is grim, but nevertheless interesting.
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! is returning to our telly screens this week, which can mean only one thing… the time has come for a brand new cast of celebrities to head down under and battle it out in TV’s toughest entertainment challenge.
The ten celebrities heading into the Jungle for the new series are: Jennie McAlpine, Dennis Wise, Rebekah Vardy, Jack Maynard, Shappi Khorsandi, Amir Khan, Stanley Johnson, Vanessa White, Jamie Lomas and Georgia “Toff” Toffolo.
Although the cast changes every year for the show, the contestants outfits don’t. Have you ever wondered why the celebs wear bright red socks and shorts?
The reason has finally be revealed, and it’s grim. The celebrity contestants wear red so it stops bleeding insect bites from showing up on camera.
Onsite medic Bob has revealed to Woman’s Own some secrets from inside the jungle, and it’s not pretty.
The celebrities will often pick up unsightly wounds during their time in the jungle, and producers don’t want viewers at home seeing blood.
Bob also said most of the rocks around the camp are made out of papier mache.
Now you might be thinking everything about I’m A Celebrity is fake, it’s not. Bob said yearly a number of animals are bred for the show. 2.5 million meal worms, 250,000 cockroaches, 153,000 crickets, 500 rats, 400 spiders and 30 snakes are bred for the series to star in the dreaded Bushtucker Trials.
I’m A Celebrity 2017 launches this Sunday on ITV from 9pm.
