I’m A Celebrity 2017: ‘Walk the Plank’ makes a return with a twist!

I’m A Celebrity 2017 returns to ITV and this year’s launch show sees the return of ‘Walk the Plank’ but more terrifying.

The much anticipated new series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! begins tonight on ITV and the first challenge the celebs face is familiar.

10 brand new celebrities have swapped luxury for life in the I’m A Celebrity jungle and will face their fears over the next three weeks.

The cast of 2017 are ex-politician and author Stanley Johnson, actress and soap star Jennie McAlpine, wife of Jamie Vardy Rebekah Vardy, retired footballer Dennis Wise, Youtuber and vlogger Jack Maynard, actor and soap star Jamie Lomas, reality TV star Georgia Toffolo, comedian Shappi Khorsandi, singer and pop star Vanessa White and boxer Amir Khan.

In tonight’s launch show all ten celebrities were greeted by Ant & Dec at a luxury Gold Coast villa as they all met for the first time.

Jamie Lomas was pleased to see Jennie McAlpine: “Yeah, two fellow northerners” he smiled.

Georgia couldn’t remember if she’d met Jack before as they have mutual friends and Amir revealed to Ant & Dec that he’d never watched I’m A Celebrity before much to their amusement.

Then Ant and Dec explained to the celebrities that they’d be taking part in various challenges en route to the jungle.

In the first challenge of the series, the celebs faced ‘Walk the Plank’.

334 feet up on the roof of a Gold Coast hotel, a new – and even more terrifying – variation of the dreaded plank was waiting for the celebrities to walk it.

The chosen celebrities were Amir, Vanessa, Jack, Jennie, Jamie and Georgia and each had to complete the challenge.

Georgia and Vanessa were really nervous about walking the plank, and Jennie wasn’t scared of heights but she said she didn’t have great balance and this worried her.

Dennis and Shappi had to undertake one of the most nerve racking challenges ever seen on I’m A Celebrity – a sky dive into water.

Stanley and Rebekah arrived at the wretched wreck and found out they were to take part in a challenge with mysterious hell holes.

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! launches Sunday 19th November at 9pm on ITV.
