I’m A Celebrity 2017: Dec jokes about Ant’s summer in onscreen banter!

We're glad they're both back

Declan Donnelly joked about Ant’s summer during links on I’m A Celebrity 2017 launch show, and viewers loved it.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here 2017 launched on Sunday evening and both presenters Ant and Dec returned to present the celebrity survival challenge.

There were fears during the runup to I’m A Celebrity 2017 that Anthony McPartlin was not going to return to host after spending the summer in rehab to deal with his addiction to prescription medication – But in fact he made it after all looking healthy.

Promotion for the series was halted, which is why Ant and Dec don’t feature in any onscreen ads for the new series.

Although the Geordie duo put viewers out of their worry with their banter right from the very start of the show.

During one of the links Ant appeared to be unimpressed by a replica of the jungle, he said: “Is that it? We’ve been off air a year, a whole year and that’s what you’ve done?

“That’s all you’ve done?

“Eh? A whole year to make that! It’s rubbish man!” he added.

Dec responded with: “Don’t be rough with it, I spent all summer making that, all summer that took me.

“No help from this one,

“Where were you all summer? What were you doing?” Dec questioned.

Ant shrugged his shoulders and started to choke on his drink before producers ran the next VT.

Viewers at home loved the banter between the two presenters, one fan said: “Love that Ant and Dec aren’t hiding the fact that Ant was ill this summer. Proper best friends having banter and joking about it.”

I’m A Celebrity returns nightly on ITV.
