The official app for the ITV show I’m A Celebrity confused viewers at home when the first vote off opened.
On Friday’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! it was time for the first celebrity campmate to be evicted from the jungle.
After ten days in the jungle, Ant and Dec announced that Shappi Khorsandi had been eliminated after receiving the fewest public votes – Or so we first thought.
Amir, Iain and Dennis were all immune from Friday’s vote off after a series of secret challenges this week.
Voting opened for the first elimination during the show for approximately 15 minutes – Viewers at home were given an option of voting via the telephone numbers or via the official app for iOS and Android.
Viewers could vote on the official app for free, a total of 5 times.
Although Ant and Dec announced live on the show that voting was open for the public to save their favourite campmates from eviction, the app told a different story, apparently.
Viewers at home have said that the official I’m A Celebrity app stated that you were voting for the next celebrity campmate to take part in a Bushtucker Trial.
Even though Ant and Dec were clear throughout the show that viewers at home should be voting for their favourite campmates, some viewers may have thought they were voting for a celebrity to do the next trial but instead accidentally saved them from eviction.
ITV confirmed to TwitCelebGossip that ‘voting was not compromised’ during the incident and the technical issue was ‘quickly rectified’ after voting opened.
One viewer who voted said: “I know it was for who we wanted to save, but lots of names were missing on my app. It said bush tucker trial on the app but I knew it was for who we wanted to save, however I couldn’t vote for who I wanted to because lots of names were missing.”
Others said: “During the show it [the app] said for the next trial. I knew I was voting for who I wanted to keep in but there are lots of others who went with what the app said and voted for who they wanted to do the next trial, so have accidentally saved somebody they didn’t necessarily mean to save.”
@imacelebrity guys, your app said we were voting for bushtucker trail, not who we think shouldn't be evicted….. Kez should definitely have gone…

The @imacelebrity app incorrectly said we were voting for a “Bushtucker Trial” tonight. It was also not clear if we were voting for the person we wanted to stay, or the person we wanted to leave. I don’t think the voting or the ☎ numbers are mentioned enough on the show anymore.

@imacelebrity Think your app was wrong when voting tonight. Iain, Dennis and Amir weren't an option in the five free votes for bushtucker trial but the immunity was for the vote to leave – wasn't it? #confused

@imacelebrity On the app this evening it said “bush Tucker trial” on the voting page but it’s actually a vote to save so this may have caused a lot of confusion as people could be voting on the app for the people they want to do the trial when actually it’s voting to save them??
