The Grand Tour: Season 2 arrives on Amazon, episode 1 features Hammond’s shocking crash!

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May have returned for a brand new series of The Grand Tour on Amazon.

The Grand Tour returns today for its second season with Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, only on Amazon Prime Video.

The trio return with the world’s greatest car show about three middle-aged men rampaging around the world having unusual adventures, driving amazing cars, and engaging in a constant argument about which of them is the biggest idiot.

For the first episode, they head to Switzerland to compare a Lamborghini Aventador S, a hybrid Honda NSX and an all-electric Croatian supercar called the Rimac Concept One in a battle of past, present and future.

Throughout the season, the trio will also visit Croatia, Mozambique, Dubai, Spain, Switzerland, Colorado, New York and many more locations.

Episode 1 shows Hammond losing control of a Rimac Concept One while filming in Switzerland and he dramatically careered off a cliff.

“I’m quite nervous. I’m suddenly nervous,” Hammond says at the start of the race.

“OK here we go, give it your best shot Rich. Watch this.”

The left over of Hammond’s crash

Talking about the crash to Radio Times, Hammond said: “I remember all of it, right from when maybe I was going too fast and went over the edge,

“Then sky, ground, sky, ground, like being in a tumble dryer full of bricks. I thought, ‘Oh God, I’m going to die. This is it. I’ve had it.’

“When it finally stopped, I knew I’d broken my leg, and it felt as if I’d broken a load of ribs, too, but that was just bruising from the seatbelt. I was jammed there, and I couldn’t open the door. I was really struggling and flailing as I battled to get out. And then I stopped. That was when I heard crackling and realised the car was on fire. It was going up. So I thought I had better increase my efforts to get out.”
