Olly Murs has revealed that Simon Cowell hasn’t spoken to him since the news broke he’s the new coach on The Voice UK.
Simon Cowell is reportedly annoyed with Olly Murs after swapping The X Factor for The Voice UK, a rival TV show.
It’s been said that Simon is not amused with Olly ‘swapping allegiances’ by leaving his co-host job at The X Factor in 2016 to concentrate on music, before jumping ship to a rival singing show.
Ahead of The Voice UK 2018 launch next week, Olly has told TV Times that Simon hasn’t reached out to him: “I have no idea if he’s happy or not.
“I’m so proud of what I did on my X Factor journey from the early days up to now.
“Deciding to be a coach on The Voice UK was just about me making a selfish decision for my career.”
He added: “Simon knows me and he knows where I am if he wants to speak to me.”
When asked how it feels to join The Voice UK as a coach, Olly said: “It feels amazing.
“It is incredible to be part of such an amazing show and a show that I have watched from afar for many years.
“I am really enjoying being part of such a fun, exciting show, it is brilliant.”
Olly also said Jennifer is his main competition on the show: “She was the winner last time, the one to beat.
“Myself, Tom and Will, we have just been all about beating Jennifer Hudson as we can’t let her win again! She has been the one we are all up against.”
The Voice UK 2018 launches on Saturday, January 6 at 8PM on ITV.
