Elton John has today announced his last ever world tour ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ with more than 300 dates – It’ll roughly take 3 years to tour.
Elton John has announced he’s retiring from touring after almost 50 years on the road.
Elton has announced his last ever tour on Wednesday in a live-streamed press conference from New York.
Elton revealed that he made the decision in 2015 to stop touring – His upcoming tour will have more than 300 dates around the world.
“I am not going to be touring anymore, apart from the last tour which is going to start in September,” Elton said at the press conference.
“My priorities have changed in life,
“I always thought I’d be like Ray Charles or B.B. King on the road forever, but your life changes… We had children and that changed our lives.”
Elton added: “I’ve been touring since the age of 17.
“I’ve been working constantly, I’ve been on the road constantly since 1970.
“I don’t always play big cities, I like the smaller towns. I’m not in ill health – you couldn’t do 300 performances if you were ill.”
The 70-year-old continued: “To say goodbye to everyone properly, it’s going to take three years,
“I don’t want to go out with a whimper, I want to go out with a bang. I’m not a whimper-y type of guy.”
Tickets will be released on Elton’s official website www.EltonJohn.com .
