Jason Gardiner has been left ‘furious’ with Torvill and Dean’s head judge status on Dancing On Ice, according to a report.
Dancing On Ice has returned to ITV, and last weekend eleven remaining couples skated for the second time.
Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Ashley Banjo and Jason give their comments at the end of a couple’s performance and mark them out of 10 before viewers are allowed to cast a vote for their favourite.
The judges scores are then combined with the viewer’s votes which then reveals the bottom two couples.
The judges then decide out of the two couples left which one stay’s and which one leaves.
Jason Gardiner is said to be angry that Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have been given head judge status, an insider revealed that he’s been ‘telling people he should be their equal – having been a judge for longer’.
A source told The Mirror: “Jason was disappointed with the decision and that was down to Torvill and Dean, and Jayne having the casting vote.
“The week before, Chris made the final decision and Jason doesn’t always agree with them, so naturally he is annoyed.
“With his experience as a judge on the show he feels he is more than worth his place and his comments are often the most memorable.”
When asked to comment on the situation, Ashley Banjo told press at the National Television Awards last week: “If someone said as a panel, ‘There’s four of you, a split vote is inevitable. Who should be head judge?’ I know Jason disagrees with me but I would say Jayne or Chris.
“They come as a partnership. Jason thinks it should be split between us all.”
Dancing On Ice continues Sunday on ITV.
