Cheryl ‘finalising plans’ to return to The X Factor this year

Cheryl is set to return to The X Factor this year as she enters ‘final talks’ with Simon Cowell, according to a report.

Cheryl is now in ‘final talks’ to return to The X Factor this year.

The former judge is currently raising nine-month-old son Bear with boyfriend Liam Payne but it appears she’s eager to get back to work.

Cheryl joined Simon Cowell for judges’ houses on last year’s series, she’s also appeared on the show in 2008, 2010, 2014, and 2015.

It’s said she’s the ‘top choice’ to replace The Pussycat Dolls’ Nicole Scherzinger on the panel this year.

“Cheryl is the top choice and she is keen to come on board,” a source told The Sun. “But as yet, the conversations taking place have been unofficial, because we can’t begin official talks with anyone until the show’s schedule is agreed.

“The bosses need to confirm how long the series will run for and what time it will air each week.

“Once those decisions are made and agreed, the bosses will have the green light to start talking to Cheryl officially and discuss contracts with her.”

Bets are being placed on who Cheryl will call upon for a helping hand at Judges’ Houses – Her future hubby Payne is the early favourite.

Nadine Coyle is second in the betting at 7/2 to join Cheryl in whittling down her acts for Live Shows, with other ex-band members Sarah Harding, 5/1, Nicola Roberts, 7/1, and Kimberley Walsh, 10/1, all priced to make an appearance.

The X Factor returns later this year to ITV.
