X Factor bosses thinking of ‘axing Sunday night show’ in new revamp plans

X Factor bosses are said to be planning to ‘axe Sunday night show and boot camp’ from the 2018 series in a huge shake-up.

X Factor bosses are planning to revamp the 15th series of the ITV show to increase ratings – This means that both boot camp and the Sunday night show could be axed.

In a bid to freshen up the show, The Mirror reports that X Factor bosses are planning to only air live shows on a Saturday.

A source told the paper: “The question being asked is whether things could be done a little bit differently in the new series.

“One idea being looked at is whether getting rid of the Sunday show would allow ITV to put all its focus and resources into making Saturday night’s X Factor even more spectacular.

The insider added: “Nothing has been decided but there are lots of ideas being thrown around.”

An X Factor spokesman confirmed: “No decisions have been made about the new series.”

Speculation has already started on the new judging lineup, it’s been reported that Cheryl will replace Nicole Scherzinger in a £1.5m deal.

Dermot O’Leary has already confirmed that Cheryl is returning by saying earlier this year: “Cheryl’s going to come back.”

A source told The Sun last year: “It looks like Cheryl will be back next year. Simon knows Nicole is likely to leave and he wants a big name, and some much-needed glamour on the panel.

“He knows he will get that with Cheryl and she would be a really popular signing and a huge hit.

“Simon has had his own problems lately but has been really keen to get the deal nailed down.”

They added: “He is a huge fan of hers and has been turning on the charm to ensure she comes back.”

The X Factor returns to ITV later this year.
