ITV have confirmed that Declan Donnelly will host the Britain’s Got Talent live shows without Ant McPartlin from Hammersmith Apollo.
This Saturday sees the return of the nation’s favourite variety talent show, Britain’s Got Talent, celebrating 12 years on our screens.
Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams return once again to their rightful thrones on the judging panel with Ant and Dec on hand and waiting in the wings to provide support and congratulations to each of the acts performing for the judges, the live audience and viewers at home.
Although Ant McPartlin will be shown during the audition round of Britain’s Got Talent and on the spin-off show, Britain’s Got More Talent, fronted by Stephen Mulhern – Dec will be hosting the live shows solo.
ITV have confirmed that Dec will host the live shows without his co-presenter as Ant “steps down from his TV commitments for now”
In a statement released by the broadcaster, it read: “Dec will be hosting the live shows which for the first time ever are coming from the Hammersmith Apollo while Ant steps down from his TV commitments for now,
“We send Ant all our love. And we know that Dec will do a brilliant job.”
Dec was forced to host the remaining two live shows of Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway in the recent weeks – Now he plans to host BGT solo for the time in his career.
In a slight format twist to the new series of BGT, Stephen Mulhern revealed that comments the judges have made ‘off camera’ will be shown: “The judges forget they are filmed 24/7 when they are on set,” Stephen told The Sun.
“So, we have all the footage of their conversations where they are gossiping between auditions. We’re going to use it to play a game.”
Britain’s Got Talent airs on Saturday 14th April, 8pm on ITV.
