Channel 5 have released a statement following reports of Celebrity Big Brother being axed after this summer’s series.
According to a report, Channel 5 has taken the decision to axe Celebrity Big Brother after this summer.
The new series, which is due to start in August, is said to be the last after ‘months of discussions’, according to the Daily Star.
A source told the paper: “After months of discussions it has been decided to axe Celebrity Big Brother.
“Ratings have dropped for the past few series so it isn’t worth the hefty price tag.”
The report claims that Channel 5 boss Ben Frow decided to ditch the show due to low ratings and the cost of production.
However, Channel 5 have hit back at the claims saying there has been no change to the current situation with Endemol Shine UK – The production company behind CBB.
Channel 5 told TwitCelebGossip: “The situation remains unchanged; Big Brother is currently contracted until the end of the year, there’s no update on future series beyond 2018.”
Celebrity Big Brother will air in August, followed by the ‘civilian’ Big Brother.
