One celebrity campmate has tested positive for coronavirus ahead of next Sunday’s launch of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here 2020.
Former Strictly Come Dancing star AJ Pritchard is reportedly set to still enter camp despite testing positive for coronavirus days before the launch of I’m A Celebrity 2020.
This year’s I’m A Celebrity location is different to previous years, a historic castle in North Wales will be ‘camp’ instead of the Australian jungle due to the pandemic.
Just a week before the show launches on ITV, I’m A Celebrity producers have confirmed a campmate has tested positive for coronavirus.
A spokesperson for ITV told RadioTimes: “We can confirm that one member of the cast has received a positive COVID result and that individual is self isolating where we are giving them all the support that they need.
“I’m A Celebrity has robust health and safety measures and protocols in place in order to operate safely within COVID-19 guidelines.”
AJ Pritchard, 26, will be announced this evening on ITV’s preview show I’m A Celebrity: A Jungle Story, as one of the famous faces entering camp.
An insider told The Mirror: “AJ has had a positive text but is not in hospital or seriously ill and instead has been isolating in a cottage in Wales which is the correct thing to do.
“All the contestants have been isolating now for some time and will not meet until the end of the week with the show likely to start filming late on Friday or early Saturday.
They added: “All the signs are that AJ is still likely to be taking part in the series and the show will kick off as planned with ten contestants going in.”
I’m A Celebrity: A Jungle Story airs tonight at 8.10pm on ITV, with the launch show of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! premiering on Sunday 15th November.
