Nick Grimshaw completes Sport Relief challenge!

Radio 1 presenter Nick Grimshaw has completed his cycling challenge to raise money for sports relief.

Yesterday Nick covered 1,000 miles during his 12 hour cycle, with Sports Relief announcing that £115,582 had been raised throughout the day!

Grimmy’s challenge was part of BBC Radio Around The World for Sports Relief. This involves the whole of BBC Radio attempting to run, cycle and swim 25,000 miles which is the circumference of the world.

However Nick did not cycle alone, as he was joined by a variety of stars throughout the day including Victoria Pendleton and Amir Khan. Davina McCall-who has recently completed her own 7 day challenge for sports relief- was their to support Nick and offer words of encouragement.

Actor Danny Dyer and rappers Professor Green and Wretch 32 also completed 30 minute cycles with the radio DJ.Commenting on his ordeal, Grimshaw tweeted: “Aaarghhhh my arse!!!!! @sportrelief”

He added: “Thank you to everyone who’s been texting in, it’s a big deal, it’s a lot of money, and it will change lives.

Many Sports Relief fundraising events will continue to take place throughout the week in the lead up to the big fundraising show on Friday on BBC One.
