Today, The Daily Star revealed that Cheryl Cole has demanded that she gets to mentor the groups for her return to The X Factor this year.
The singer has been said to be able to call all the shots this year after three years away from the panel. It has been rumored that she would not sign the papers unless Simon agreed she could mentor the groups. A TV insider told The Daily Star: “Cheryl has told Simon she wants the groups. She’s calling the shots this year, so it’s practically a done deal.”
Although some could argue that this news has spoiled the element of surprise to the show as many of the viewers enjoy the part of the show where the judges find out which group they will be mentoring. Cheryl has already helped Alexandra Burke and Joe McElderry to victory and she believes her experience will be put to good use whilst mentoring the groups.
Cheryl has already asked for help from her ex – band-mates from Girls Aloud who were famously formed on Popstars: The rivals. A source close to Chezza revealed: “Kimberley Walsh and Sarah Harding have already agreed.”
Chezza also hopes to call on recently reunited 90s act All Saints and members of The X Factor groups Little Mix and JLS. “She wants to show X Factor bosses what they’ve been missing,” said our source. “She’s determined to win”
X Factor will return to ITV later this year.
