Recent reports have recently claimed that Paddy Jones and her dance partner Nico were picked by the producers to appear on the show.
The act appeared on Britain’s Got Talents first show of the series, surprising the judges and audience with their unexpected talent. In fact Amanda Holden was so impressed she pressed her golden buzzer ensuring that Paddy and Nico will appear in the live shows.
But it has now been revealed that Paddy and Nico were picked by the producers to appear on the show. But Paddy has defended her act against the claims after it was revealed that she has appeared on similar shows in Spain and Argentina as well as performing here in the UK on shows like This Morning.
“We were picked by the producers but it was our own idea,” Paddy said. “Britain’s Got Talent is a nice change from doing things on Nico’s side in Spanish-speaking countries.
“We have come along to BGT to enjoy ourselves – and we are.”
Simon Cowell spoke after Saturday’s show about Paddy, saying that teh 80 year old reminded him of his own mother “Mum’s in her 80s and she can still dance – like Paddy,” he told the Daily Mirror newspaper. “When I saw Paddy audition I thought, ‘She’s just like my mum’. She is a great feel-good inspirational story.”I would be happy if Paddy won.”
Paddy also spoke to The Daily Mirror “It’s nice to know Simon’s a fan.”
Britain’s Got Talent continues next Saturday with more great auditions.
