Is David about to be buzzed off by Simon?
No one can deny Britain’s Got Talent has become much more entertaining since the arrival of David Walliams on the judging panel, 3 years ago, but David reckons his time on the show will end when he finally pisses off Simon Cowell just a bit too much.
David is rumoured to be back for his fourth series this year, but has admitted his future on the show lies in the hands of ‘his Simon’.
“I am sure one day I will pick up the paper and find out I have been sacked… but that day hasn’t happened just yet,”
– he said. “If you leave a show like that you want it to be your choice. But at the end of the day the programme is bigger than anyone on it.
“I love doing the show but obviously it’s not my whole life. Who knows what the future might hold?”
David also added: “It depends on how much I upset Simon in the live shows. There is no editing. If I am too naughty, maybe.”
In a Daily Mirror interview, David claimed Simon had been trying to take his role as the funny one on the panel. According to David, Simon “had also been watching the series back and he thought, ‘David does lots of jokes on the show – I am going to do jokes too.’”
“So he was really, really competitive. He is a billionaire music mogul but that’s not enough for him.
“He needs to compete with me in the comedy stakes too. It was stressful at times.”
David also mentioned how Simon was now almost a normal human being after having a baby.
“I showed a picture of Simon with his baby to my wife and she said, ‘Oh he’s like a normal person!’” he said “And I think he’s closer to being a normal human being compared to before.” You can catch David (while he’s still on the show) on BGT tonight at 7pm on ITV.
