Sam Smith has topped the UK music charts with his new album In The Lonely Hour.
The 22 year old has managed to knock Coldplay off the top spot, selling over 101,000 copies over the past week. This makes it the fastest selling debut album of the year.
Sam first broke onto the music scene in 2012, collaborating with Disclosure on the single ‘Latch’. He then released his debut single ‘Lay Me Down’. Following this, he appeared on the song ‘La La La’ by Naughty Boy which propelled him into stardom and became the fifth biggest selling song of 2013.
Sam also bagged his first number one single ‘Stay With Me’ last week.
“It’s amazing!” Sam told OfficialCharts.com “I was a bit scared a few days ago because I knew that Coldplay’s album had come out. I’m so happy!”
