It has been confirmed by Simon Cowell that the fourth X Factor judge will be announced at some point this week.
Simon will be returning to the panel along with Cheryl Cole and (surprise, surprise) Louis Walsh. At the Health Lottery tea party, he told Digital Spy that he has a verbal agreement with a female star to become a judge.
“We’ve settled on someone,” he said. “We are going to make an announcement this week.
“We’ve decided… [but] we haven’t got the contract signed yet. It’s going to be a girl.”
It has been rumoured that Mel B, who was guest judge in 2012 and currently appearing on America’s Got Talent, will become the fourth judge on the show
Simon revealed that there is some friction between Cheryl and Louis: “They don’t get on great, but they’re just going to have to.”
Cheryl also commented that she put Simon “through the wringer” before she agreed to return to the show: “It took a few years for me to feel like it was right. I didn’t know if it ever would… but this time it feels right – again the time off really helped.”
The X Factor will return to ITV later on this year.
