Leona Lewis has left Simon Cowell’s label SYCO and joined rival record label Island Records.
She was with Simon Cowell’s label for seven years, after winning The X Factor in 2006.
Artists such as Drake, Jessie J and Nicki Minaj are signed to Island Records, where Leona has now signed a new deal with.
She said that ‘after seven incredible years at Sony I feel honoured to be given the opportunity to sign perhaps the most iconic label of all’.
Leona went on to say how she feels at Island ‘artists can really flourish and are encouraged to express themselves’.
The previous X Factor winner has had some great success in her time, with UK and US chart toppers including her album ‘Spirit’ which reached ten times platinum in the UK.
She is now about to make her cinema debut, in upcoming British musical ‘Walking on Sunshine’.
