It seems Cheryl Cole isn’t the only thing returning to The X Factor this year.
Tonight’s opening episode sees the return of 2008 contestant Amy Connolly. (And a whole bunch of blubbering)
Back in 2008, 18 year old Amy sang Faith Hill’s There You’ll Be in her first audition and left Cheryl in tears.
She made it all the way to Judges’ Houses but was didn’t get through to the live shows.
After 5 years, it seemed Amy had given up on the show but like Cheryl, Amy also made a comeback this year.
Amy is now 25 with kids and her 2008 audition has now been viewed about 10 MILLION times. At her latest audition she sings With You from the musical Ghost and leaves Cheryl in tears again!
Not only did Cheryl cry, but apparently even Simon was left feeling totes emosh. He told Amy: “You got to me with that song I’m going to be honest with you, I believed every word, you’ve got a really nice voice and it was a great song.”
Cheryl said: “That was really beautiful. This is like a flashback, there’s something that you do to me, we have a connection.
“I’m so proud of you. I’m just so happy to see you.”
Louis joined in the praise, saying: “I love the fact that you’ve come back, you’re a fighter.”
If you want to see Amy’s return and Simon getting all weepy, make sure you watch The X Factor tonight at 8PM on ITV.
