The show achieved an average audience of 8.9 million viewers including those who caught up on ITV1+1. As the room auditions continued in Newcastle and Manchester, the show peaked at 10.1 million viewers.

The ratings have declined from last weekends opening show which averaged at 9.5 million viewers and peaked with 10.6 million viewers.

However last nights show was up 700,000 on last Sunday’s episode which managed to pull in a rather disappointing 8.2 million.

The even better news for show bosses is that last nights show was up 600,000 viewers up on last years equivalent show. Although last years equivalent clashed with the launch of Strictly Come Dancing which launches tonight.

This evening will see both of the hit TV shows face off with each other in a direct clash from 8pm.
