That awkward moment when Mindy Kaling is mistaken as Malala Yousafzai at an after-party in New York City…
Yep, according to The New York Times, Mindy was at an exclusive after-party for The New Yorker Festival in The Standard hotel after doing a Q&A with the magazine’s television critic Emily Nussbaum when a drunken man in his 80s thought she was Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai.
The man approached the actress to congratulate her for her Nobel Prize, “expressing wonder at how well she had recovered from Taliban gunshots.”
After he left, Mindy said: “Did he really think I’m Malala? And that if I were, I’d be at the Boom Boom Room?”
“That’s the best thing that’s happened all night,” she added.
On 10th October, 17-year-old Yousafzai became the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner to date. Another mishap with Malala’s identity occurred when supermodel Naomi Campbell accidentally called Yousafzai “malaria” as she congratulated her on Twitter and Instagram. Oops.
Season 2 of The Mindy Project currently airs Tuesday nights on E4.
